HOMEOPATHY

What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a method of treatment with a highly diluted substance based on a premise of “Like treats like.” This refers to the idea that a substance that would create certain symptoms in high doses will relieve those same symptoms when used as a dilution. Homeopathy is a method used by medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, and other health care providers.

How is Homeopathic Medicine different from Naturopathic Medicine?
Homeopathy is actually one method of treatment used by naturopathic doctors, whereas naturopathy is all that naturopathic physicians do. Homeopathy uses an evaluation of symptoms to identify a particular remedy for a person. Naturopathic Medicine more broadly employs a wide variety assessment tools, including history, physical examination, clinical testing, imaging, and other methods of assessment, while using treatments such as lifestyle changes, nutrition, herbal medicince, physical medicine, and / or pharmaceutical therapies for treatment.

How does Homeopathy work?
Although modern science has not been able to identify the exact mechanism of how homeopathy works, the technique dates back to Hippocrates in 400BC, and has been used worldwide for over 200 years.

Remedies are prepared by specialist pharmacies using a process of dilution and succussion, which makes the original (sometimes toxic) substances non-toxic. Homeopathic medicines are regulated by the FDA, and available over-the-counter and by prescription depending on potency.

Is there Research supporting Homeopathy?
A particular meta-analysis research study published in 1997 was performed by German professor Dr. Klaude Linde and Dr. Wayne Jonas, compared 186 studies of homeopathic trials to placebo trials. The investigators concluded homeopathy was more-effective.

Who can benefit from Homeopathy?
Many people can benefit from homeopathy, which is why we use it in our patient care. Children particularly benefit from homeopathy. Homeopathy works well for people who have emotionally-based symptoms, or an emotional stressor that has led to physical symptoms. Homeopathy can also benefit chronic conditions that have not improved with other treatment.

How can I find out if Homeopathy is right for me?
You can schedule an appointment with one of our physicians, who will help you find out what is right for you. To do so, call us at (360)-651-9355.
